Principal's Message
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
I am excited to continue this school year as the principal of Hiawatha School. I am looking forward to a great year with our Huskies. We look forward to working with you to ensure your child has a successful school year.
I am lucky to have been a part of the Hiawatha community since 1999. I began my teaching career as a 1st grade teacher and moved into the role of Assistant Principal and am now in my 9th year as Principal. I love coming to work every day and engaging with the students, staff, parents, and the community of Hiawatha.
I received my undergraduate degree from Illinois State University in Elementary Education. I also have a Masters degree from Saint Xavier University in Teacher Leadership, followed by a Masters Degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Education Administration.
My husband Jeremy and I have 4 children, our oldest son Colin is a senior at the University of Illinois and triplets Kayla, Haley, and Aidan are seniors at Downers Grove South High School. I have always had a passion for watching children grow and am lucky enough to be with the Hiawatha students during the day and my own children in the evenings.
We are excited to welcome Mrs. Loretta Cooper as the new assistant principal to Hiawatha. Mrs. Cooper comes to us with an extensive background in special education and has a lot of knowledge to share with us. I am looking forward to working with her and together we hope to accomplish great things and continue to improve Hiawatha School.
We are thankful to have you as part of the Hiawatha family and hope to see you all soon! If at any time you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.
